The Botanical Garden of Crete

The newest and one of the most intriguing attractions in the Chania region, located just 18 kilometers from the city at the foothills of the White Mountains, appeals to all ages and combines pleasures that only Crete can offer.

Whether viewed as a scenic hike or an educational exploration into nature's pathways, the Botanical Garden of Crete is an ideal, alternative option for a day trip away from the city noise and bustling beaches, featuring rare local flora and fauna specimens, as well as tropical and subtropical varieties from around the world.

These specimens continually enrich the Garden's landscape, offering visitors new reasons to return and experience its beauty repeatedly. The nature adventure, lasting one to two hours, traverses paths of incredible natural beauty, allowing visitors to explore the diverse plant and tree life thriving over the garden's extensive terrains. Properly marked trails lead through different sections, showcasing tropical trees, fruit trees, citrus groves, herbs, and vineyards, enhancing the visit with educational insights into various plant species.

The lush landscape is further enhanced by a lake at the garden's lower part, offering shelter to ducks, geese, and other aquatic birds. Additionally, the garden features an open-air, stone-built amphitheater suitable for small events (up to about 250 people),adding a cultural dimension to the natural beauty of the site.

Depending on the season, visitors can enjoy flowers, plants, and trees at various life stages, alongside different wild flora and fauna species. The Botanical Park of Crete is open daily from the end of March to the end of November, from 9:00 AM to 8:30 PM.

The entrance fee is 7 euros for adults.

For children aged 6 to 12 years, the entrance fee is 4 euros, while entry is free for children under 6 years old.
