The grapevine, or Vitis, is an angiosperm belonging to the order Rhamnales and the family Vitaceae, with many varieties cultivated in temperate regions worldwide. Crete, strategically located at the crossroads of North, South, East, and West, has played a pivotal role in spreading vine cultivation and wine culture. Consequently, grapevines hold a deserved place in the Botanical Park of Crete, reflecting the island's significant contribution to viticulture.
